Manhattanites and graphic designers Timothy Goodman and Jessica Walsh decided to find out — and the platonic friends embarked on the tenuous mission of dating each other for 40 days. The adventure was chronicled in a blog — and now a book — for all to see. The ground rules were simple: see each other every day for 40 days, go on at least 3 dates a week, see a couple’s therapist, and don’t hook up with anyone else in that time frame. With these rules in place, the two launched their design-heavy blog, “40 Days of Dating,” in , hoping to “cure” one another of their dating bad habits. Now, a year and a half later, they have a book out under the same name, out Feb.

Goodman prefers to date casually, sometimes seeing several women at the same time. Walsh, on the other hand, is a self-described “hopeless romantic” who jumps too quickly — her words — into relationships. But the two also have a lot in common. They both live in New York City , work as graphic designers and have been friends for the past four years. In March, after finding themselves newly single and equally frustrated, they started dating for a day experiment, with plans to document the entire journey, day-by-day.

That was then. They started posting about their day spring stint on July 10, with daily updates to their blog, each from a different day in chronological order.
